idaho pain clinic review

“My name is Niki M. Scrambler Therapy Treatment of my neck and back from Doctor Boese of the Pain Care Clinic of Idaho has saved my life. To understand this, you need to know my medical history and what I have done to help with the pain.

Neck pain presented itself as migraines and a very stiff neck in 2001. I believe most of this was caused by my job as a legal assistant for 17 years not knowing ergonomics and stretching as I was sitting at a desk hunched over dealing with documents and operating a computer 8 hours per day. I had tried physical therapy, massage and non-narcotic meds, anti-inflammatories , and ice and heat every 15 minutes of the day. At this point I was prescribed sleeping medications which offered little help because every time I would change positions during the night, I would wake up from the pain. An MRI of my neck was done indicating some problems with a cervical disk, so I had a neck fusion at C 5-6. Surgery was necessary but did not resolve my neck pain and stiffness. I was forced to quit my job for the reason I could not sit at a computer, nor could I trust my judgment due to all of the pain medications and fatigue from not sleeping. My low back pain started about four years after my neck surgery–again, for no reason (no accident or fall). Now it was difficult to do anything. I was house bound to my bed and unable to participate in the lives of my children, husband, family and friends, basically a hermit. I missed so much of life due to the pain. None of my doctors or physical therapists knew what was causing my pain. The pain in both of these areas was so bad that I blacked out at home a few times and had to be hospitalized in the cardiac unit due to low blood pressure. My doctor then prescribed medications such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, methadone, morphine, fentanyl patches, fentanyl popsicle, meloxicam, Seroquel and Lyrica to name a few. I then started on a journey to get relief by trying more aggressive approaches to treatment, consisting of more PT, cervical traction, trigger point and epidural injections, rhizotomy, facet blocks. All this time, an MRI of my middle back revealed numerous large masses that were called hemangiomas, which turned out to be benign. My doctor then referred me to a large, well-known clinic in this country to make sure the hemangiomas were not cancerous or causing pain and to find out what was causing pain in my neck and back. They could not rule out whether or not the hemangiomas were causing pain and they were unable to help with my neck and back pain. They could only offer me more medications. This was years ago before Calmare was introduced at this clinic. I continued on this course for the next eight years. I was in such a fog due to the narcotic, other meds and fatigue from not sleeping. In early 2014, I qualified for two trials of a spinal cord stimulator; one for my neck and one for my low back. Neither helped. The stimulators could not reach the areas for which I needed relief.

Next in my continuing hopeless journey for pain relief is the miracle of Scrambler Therapy. After the first treatment, my neck and back pain went away immediately but came back the next morning. From that point on, after each subsequent treatment, my pain would go away immediately and stay away for longer periods of time until it was completely gone by day 9! My low back pain actually went away completely after 2 treatments. I could finally move my neck with ease from side to side for the first time in 14 years and move my low back without pain for the first time in 8 years! During this time, I was also weaning off morphine with help from Dr. Boese. I am currently pain free and have decreased my morphine intake considerably!

I had almost given up on having any kind of life. I cannot get the years back from the time I missed with my family and friends but I can go forward without the pain and live a quality live. My memory is improving and concentration is getting better with each day. No more post-it notes everywhere. Physical therapy is something I can do now to help stretch muscles that haven’t moved in so many years. My family is thrilled to have me back. I am now present in every moment. Sleeping is much better, no more waking up every couple of hours. My energy level is so much better that I can look forward to doing things that have been put aside for so long.

My life has turned from being depressing and having no hope for the future, to a life of looking forward to each new day and getting better.

Thank you, Dr. Boese and your staff at the Pain Care Clinic of Idaho for giving me my life back.”

David R:

David is a 55-year-old male who has had Multiple Sclerosis for over 2 decades and does not remember the time when he did not have neck pain, back pain or sciatica.  He has reacted adversely to most of the drugs available for multiple sclerosis.  Prior to August of 2014, He was treated with medical acupuncture and ameliorated many of his symptoms. After his Scrambler Therapy® treatments in August of 2014 he became pain free for the first time since his MS began. His underlying condition is ongoing and he would likely need booster treatments if and when his pain reactivates.
